KERWA DAM, BHOPAL


This is a scenic dam located just 15 km from bhopal off Kotra Sultanabad. Kerwa dam is an excellent spot to enjoy a nice picnic. The place is best visited in the rains as the water level is low in summers.


HATHIKHEDA DAM, BHOPAL


Hathikheda Dam is about 19 km from Bhopal railway station. Hathaikheda is a beautiful place full with river water, trees of mango, date and scenic fields having wheat, soyabean, sugar cane crops. This place becomes charming especially in the rainy season. One can visit Hathaikheda via Phanda which is off Bhopal-Indore highway.


KOLAR DAM, BHOPAL


Kolar Dam, a major masonry dam, is located about 35 km away from Bhopal, near Lawakhari village in Sehore District.


Constructed across the Kolar River, a tributary of Narmada on the right bank, the dam is about 45 m high. The maximum storage capacity is 270 M cm. The dam serves the irrigation purpose of Bhopal city and the surrounding areas. The nearest airport is Bhopal Airport Sehore Railway Station serves Lawakhari. Kolar is the smallest urban agglomeration of Bhopal consisting of Old Municipal Towns of kolar, Bhopal. 

KALIASOT DAM, BHOPAL


Kaliasot Dam is the most significant of the works and vision of Raja Bhoj was his work for water conservation, as early as eleventh century that named as Kaliasot Dam. The great Bhoj clearly understood the importance of water in the survival, settlement and development of human society. Raja Bhoj of India is yet to get the credit of the first visionary in known history for creating the first man made large reservoir. The great Bhoj dam lasted more than 400 years up to the fifteenth century. It changed the entire eco system of the central India. Forests and wild life developed and the place became a haven for nature and beauty.

It is after Kalia Gond that this river is called Kalia Sot today. A dam on the river was drawn and known as the Kalia Sot dam, and is one of the main sources of water supply to Bhopal city.

  • By Rail-
Bhopal lies on the Delhi-Chennai route and is one of the most important railway stations of central India. Among the express trains, Shatabdi express connects Bhopal with the capital city, Delhi. The various other destinations to which Bhopal is well connected are Maharashtra, Gujarat, U.P., Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Rajesthan and many more parts of India.

  • By Road-
The transportation access in Bhopal is also quite convenient by the road transport since it is well-linked with the various other destinations of India through the smooth and excellent roadways. Some of the destinations that are easily reachable from Bhopal by road transport are Delhi, Sanchi, Indore, Ujjain, Panchmari and Jabalpur, and Khajuraho are easily accessible from Bhopal.  With such fine transportation network, getting to Bhopal would be quite convenient and comfortable for the discerning travelers.
