ERA FOUND AT SAMSAGARH - JAIN TEMPLE, BHOPAL

Samasgarh, situated around 20 kms away from Bhopal near Ratibad, is believed to be discovered by a Jain Saint (Muni). It is said that the place was once renowned for an old Jain Temple. Now at Samasgarh, one can found ruins of one dozen Parmar era temples containing symbols of Shiva temple and Vishnu temple, hundreds of idols of Jain tirthankaras, remnants of the Jain temple etc. Two old water ponds are also located near Samasgarh.  This place was discovered 70 years ago by a jain Muni. 

Samasgarh was known for old Jain temple but will now known for Statues and ruins of Parmar era temple which had been recently found there.  It is first time that so many remains of Parmar Era have been found near capital. Inspite of the media hype they still lie unprotected and unmarked.  If one has to go to the site one has to depend on the local people who only know that some statues which were recently in newspaper have been found in their village. 

 

Ruins one dozen temples have been located, in which symbols of Shiva temples, Vishnu temples and other temples could be identified at the location near the old Jain temple.  The ruins suggest that these temples would be of the Parmara-era that may have been destroyed by some reason.  Historians believe that areas around the State capital were ruled by the Parmara King Bhoj and these ruins would definitely have been under his protection. Apart from Hindu, temples, ruins of Jain temples could also be easily identified.  There are two old water ponds/ well near the site.

SHRI MANGALNATH TEMPLE

Shri Mangalnath Temple (श्रीमंगलनाथ मंदिर), situated at Ujjain about 200kms from Bhopal is a highly reversed temple devoted to Lord Shiva in the form of Mangalnath. The temple is placed on a serene surrounding, overlooking the vast stretch of water in the majestic Kshipra River.; Built with white marble, Mangalnath temple is an amalgamation of Islamic and Hindu architectural style. The inner sanctum of the temple is adorned with a life-sized idol of the presiding deity, dressed in purple robes and seated on a throne. 

According to Matsya Purana, Mangalnath is considered to be the birth place of Mars. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. Mangalnath Temple which looks upon a vast expanses of the Shipra River, offers an indescribable sense of peace to the tourists. It is situated at the place where the first meridian is said to pass the earth.

In ancient times, the place Mangalnath was famous for a clear view of the planet and hence is a suitable place for astronomical studies.Every Tuesday, devotees gather here to offer special pujas to the deity. The marvelous shrine located far away from the flurry of the city life, offers an unimaginable sense of tranquility to the tourists.

BHOJESHWAR TEMPLE BHOJPUR

Bhojpur is a town of historical and religious importance in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh, India. Founded by the legendary Parmar King of Dhar, Raja Bhoj (1010-1053), and named after him, Bhojpur, 28 km from Bhopal, is renowned for the remains of its magnificent Shiva temple and Cyclopean dam.

The temple which has earned the nomenclature of the Somnath of the east, is known as the Bhojeshwar Temple. 

The temple was never completed and the earthen ramp used to raise it to dome-level still stands. Had it been completed, it would have had very few rivals. As it is, even with the ravages of time, it remains one of the best examples of temple architecture of the 11th - 13th centuries.

Bhojpur is famous for the incomplete Bhojeshwar temple, which is dedicated to Shiva. The temple houses the largest Shiva lingam in India, which is 5.5 m (18 ft) tall and 2.3 m (7.5 ft) in circumference and is crafted out a single rock.

DEVI TEMPLE AT SALKANPUR, BHOPAL

Salkanpur Temple is located in Sehore district near Budhni, Budhni is a town formally known as 'Buuddha Nivasini' literally meaning the residential of Buddha, the temple is at a distance of 70 km from Bhopal by road and the nearest railway station is Sehore which is on the Bhopal- Ratlam route.The Salkanpur temple is devoted to goddess Durga and the presiding deity here is Ma Durga Beejasan one of the incarnation of the goddess Durga. The Temple is situated on an 800 ft high hillock and has more than 1000 stairs.

Salkanpur is a placed where mata vijayasen is virajman on top of hill you can go by car ropeway, and by stairs (1000 stairs), it is one of the greatest placed like maihar, vasnodevi.

MANUA BHAN KI TEKRI (JAIN TEMPLE), BHOPAL

Bhopal has a popular Jain temple called MANUA BHAN KI TEKRI (JAIN TEMPLE) where people can go either on foot or on rope-way. MANUA BHAN KI TEKRI (JAIN TEMPLE) is also known as Mahaveer Giri. It is very popular for its scenic views.

MANUA BHAN KI TEKRI (JAIN TEMPLE) situated near Bairagarh Road 7 km away from Bhopal on the top of a hill, a pilgrimage and faith of jain devotees. On the tekri the Jain saint Maharaj Shri Vijay Suriji, Shri Jindutta Sureshwarji and Acharya Manutung’s footwears are kept and also a idol of Shri Man Bhadarji has been installed. On the Simha Gate of the temple is an old manuscript carved on the stone, the language in which it has been written is still to be deciphered. It is also said to be the Sadhana Sthali of Oswal Dynasty. A big fare is also held every year here on Kartik Purnima.

The Bhojpur Shiva Temple, or Bhojeshwar Temple, also known as Somanath of the East is an unfinished temple located at Bhojpur Village near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The Bhojeshwar Temple located near the Betwa River was founded by the legendary Parmar King of Dhar Raja Bhoj (1010-1055). A massive Shiva lingam rising to a height of 22 feet and made of a single block of polished stone is the main attraction in this ornate temple. The linga is one of the tallest in India.
