BHADBHADA DAM, BHOPAL

The Bhadbhada dam (Hindi: भदभदा बांध) is a set of 11 sluice gates at the south-east corner of Upper lake in Bhopal. It was constructed in 1965.  And the capacity of the Bhadbhada dam is 117.05 million m. The gates are used to control the outflow of water from the lake to Kaliasote River, and are usually opened only when the city receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season.

The free flow of water in Kalia Sot could prove fatal for the upper lake. So, another dam was built at Bhadbhada that allowed water into the Kalia Sot only when the Upper Lake would overflow in the monsoons.
