SATDHARA STUPAS MONUMENT, BHOPAL

Satdhara stupa is 41 kms (26.00 miles) far from Bhopal placed near vidisha road. The main Stupa of the site is similar to that of Sanchi having remains of railings. It is 13.65 mt. High excluding platforms with diameter of 32.80 mt. Recent excavations have revealed brick pradaksh in a patha & stair case of the Stupa. Other remains are of monastery and apsidal temples. (Maurya & Sunga Period).



Set among verdant rolling hills 30 km north of Bhopal, Satdhara (“Seven Streams”) is well worth the detour for stupa enthusiasts. There are no less than 34 stupas dating from the Maurayan period in the third century B.C. and 14 monastries.
